Noob Chronicles – A Little Purple

I’ve had these pics finished on my hard drive for a couple days now but I just didn’t have time/energy to get the post done. I apologize that it’s kind of late, but I’ve double checked and most everything is still where it was.

Please note the skin itself has a green eye shadow and a reddish lip. I’m using appliers from AlaskaMetro (CremeDuo) shadow and Shiny Stuffs – tinted lip balm to give myself this purplish shadow and pink mouth.

There’s been some changes to my noob, she’s now wearing a catwa head called Dyana. I just bought her the basic head and the eye blinks for now and will upgrade more little by little.

Gypsy Warmth and Thanks

This post is going to be a little more brief and less detailed than usual simply because I’m quite tired and there’s a lot I want to get done.

I sincerely hope that those of you who celebrate Thanksgiving or just enjoy the time to spend with your families that it was one filled with peace, love and togetherness.

If you went shopping, I hope you got some bargains. So much happened and I bought so much that I just don’t feel I can even cover it all. But I do hope all of you were able to snatch up some good second life bargains too. The best thing about shopping in sl is, you can do it sitting on your couch in your pjs.

The look that I’m featuring today includes some of the buys that I made over the weekend. Wasabi Pills had a sale on their Basics Packs, 100L for a pack of several essential tones including this blonde. This is the Marissa hair and though you can’t see it, it has lovely braids down the back and it comes with a hud to change the little bands on the braids. Gorgeous.

Neve also had a Black Friday sale, outfits half price and this is the Dreamer sweater and skirt dress in Meadow. Each outfit comes in a 3 pack of colors and there’s a hud which usually allows some mixing and matching. You can’t see it but I’m wearing the skirt part in a brown floral print, very autumnal in my opinion which has some green leaves that match the sweater.

Even though I bought several items during Skin Addiction’s Black Friday sale <3, I’m actually sporting a full price skin. I was gleeful to discover that League has released appliers for catwa and immediatelly snapped them right up. I was a long time fan of League’s system skins and I am much in love with Ella, the catwa head applier.

I’m wearing the medium skin tone and I also bought, of course, the body applier for my Lara as well as a set of matte lipsticks, which you can also see me wearing above. The head applier comes with brow options, eye makeup options and lipstick choices as well.

My photographs were taken in a really nice Gypsy Caravan by Angelic Designs. The animation is included as are a choice of a few others. It was on offer for 100L for Steals and Deals this week and I just loved it. It’s warm and rustic and inviting and just right. I’ve parked it on my sim as a wintery rest area 😀 *Please note, i can’t guarantee that the Caravan will stay on sale for long. Hurry!

LoTD – Sweater Weather

I live in a relatively warm climate, in Virginia, but it’s starting to get more than nippy in my neck of the woods and now we’ve got Daylight Savings time in place, I’m pulling out my sweaters that were stored over the summer.

Today I’m showing you a mix of items I’ve picked up in the not too distant past and one of the things I want to show is that every item you buy doesn’t have to cost 200L or more at a pop.

Lootd – Autumn Days

I apologize so much for being so tardy with posting. Not only did I get a new pet as mentioned previously but I also had a disastrous malware problem and then evidently Windows 10 has issues and well it was a giant clusterxxxx. So, all of these items are former sale items and again my big apologies with reporting on them but, if you like ’em you can still grab ’em sale or no.

I tried a new technique on these pictures, taking them on green screen and then adding a background. If you like tutorials, I followed this one on how to extract from green screen – here. I used a few other things as well including adding a layer, using a brush in the color range and painting over any lingering greenish areas and then turning the layer to hue under blending changes. I then just merged layers and so on. I’m fairly pleased with how it turned out!

Little Bit of Darkness

Halloween being only a few weeks after my birthday has always been special to me. So I’m getting ready early with hopefully a few different posts on Halloween looks. Today was payday for me so I did a good bit of running around the grid.

I am normally always a blonde, but this outfit needed a darker hair, a darker skin, spooky eyes and darker lipstick. After the jump you’ll get all the details including where to get this awesome pumpkin with built in poses.

Fall Into Fall – Noob Edition

Hi there, I feel I’ve fallen down a bit on the Noob job since I did throw in the Lindens for a few not free or starter type items. One, I did buy my noob the Maitreya – Lara mesh body. Look, everyone is different in terms of both what they feel comfortable spending and also what kind of body they like. No harm no foul whatever your choice is.

I just happened to feel I was missing that mesh body too much so I invested in one. Unfortunately you cannot buy the body online, you do have to go to the Maitreya store, and you can grab a demo to try it on first. If you are not aware, the Maitreya body comes with skin presets that match the Glam Affair skin range. It also comes with hands and feet, the feet come in 3 versions: flat, medium, and high.

In The Forest – October

So, I’ve been focusing on my noob lately but tonight I logged in on my main avatar and I was delighted to find that The Forest  (link opens for the event’s info page) for October had opened. October 12 was my birthday so it was a bit like getting a birthday present! I also made stops @ The Chapter 4 and Liaison Collaborative, but this post is mainly about the items you can find in The Forest. Pay 1kL for the membership group and all the gifts are yours. I counted 3 dresses, 3 hairs, 4 skins (2 were appliers for Fiore heads) a pair of shoes and some lovely decor and jewelry items.

The Noob Chronicles – Step 2

My last post, I started a noob me… and during that post, I suggested that I think most people need at least 1kL to start with. For those who don’t know anything about Second Life ™, the platform has its own money.

These are called Lindens and the basic exchange rate at this every exact moment is 1kL costs $3.83 us. Once you sign up for an account and verify that through your email, you can also add a payment method. Since I’m from the US, I only really know how it works here. I put in my credit card or credit cards (you can also sign up for buying lindens via paypal but your paypal must be a bank verified account. You can also use something called Skrill but I’ve never tried that. The cashier on the site verifies you as being a valid card and so on and then you can set your payment method to work somewhat how you want it to.

For example, if you want to use one card only for premium account payments. – a premium account gives you a stipend per week of 3oo L and also the right to a linden home. A linden home is like a cheap place to stay which involves a house plus 124 prims to use how you see fit. (Prims are the basic object.. I think it’s called Land Impact now but it’s the same idea. Each bit of land is only allowed so many items on it.

For me at least, a linden home sort of look like a tract house as opposed to getting land, and doing your own thing. But for a lot of people, the $9.50 monthly charge in exchange for the approximately 1200 Lindens plus a free place to park your avatar to change and what not is not a bad deal.  For comparison purposes, that $9.50 us is equal to about 2500L so.. the 1200L you’re getting plus a house, you -might- be able to do better on your own, but that’s only about 250L a week for rental so then again you might not.

But originally, I thought you might have at least some few expenses even if you didn’t want to own land or spend a lot of L on your avatar. Some groups, like the group for Lumae charge a fee to join. The fee is only 1L but if you don’t have that one linden, that can be a problem. Also quite a number of items on marketplace are 1L rather than 0L. And it might be you end up wanting to spend a little more money on yourself.

For me, I have one card that pays for everything and I also have a budget for buying lindens. I buy lindens twice a month and my budget for lindens is pretty big.. it’s a lot but I justify that by saying SL is both my biggest hobby and also my biggest social outlet. I am sick irl and I’m mostly house bound/legally disabled. Without SL, I have no idea what I would do at 3 am when everyone I know in RL is asleep. With SL, I can go shopping, do a blog post, go have fun with friends like I did with Alicia Chenaux and another friend from Alicia’s social group, Mimi. It’s a huge thing for me but I feel everyone has to arrive at their own budget for hobbies or whatever else they do and nobody has a right to say anything about it. That’s why I’m trying to show as much as I can for the smallest amount possible 😀
